Melbourne RFC are very sad to announce the passing of Club Stalwart David Burchell on Sunday 9th September after a short illness.
Dave had been a member of Melbourne Rugby Club since the very early days of the club's formation and played for all the Senior sides during that time. He volunteered on the Senior committee, was a Vice President, and helped in whatever way he could to see Melbourne RFC grow and develop into the club it is today. Dave probably enjoyed the more recent years as much as any at Melbourne RFC as he proudly watched his sons Peter and Ben following in his footsteps by wearing the green jersey of his home rugby club.
The Club will be holding a minute's silence on Saturday 29th September at 3pm before the 1st XV Home Fixture v Lincoln to remember Dave. Please come down and show your respect to one of life’s gentlemen and one of Melbourne Rugby Club's finest.
The Funeral will take place at St Peters Church, Hartshorne on Tuesday 25th September at 12.00 and then afterwards at The Pirelli Stadium – Burton on Trent.
R.I.P David Burchell
